How to Create Permit Applications

Overview

Creating Permit Applications on Cloudpermit can be done quickly, easily, and from the comfort of your home or anywhere with an internet connection. To create a permit application on Cloudpermit, please follow the steps below.

How To Create Permit Applications

  1. Log Into Cloudpermit
    1. Log into Cloudpermit at ca.cloudpermit.com If you forget how to, please click here. If you have not yet created on account on Cloudpermit, please do so. If you do not know how to create an account on Cloudpermit, please click here.
  2. Apply for A Permit
    1. Once you are logged into Cloudpermit, you will be presented with your main dashboard where you will find your Tasks and requests, My applications, and the Apply for a permit button. To create a permit application, please click the Apply for a permit button, located near the top right of the dashboard. If you cannot locate the Apply for a permit button, it is circled in red on the image below. 
  3. Create a New Project or Select An Existing Project
    1. It is now time to select either create a new project or select an existing project. If you have never created a project before, you will only be able to create a new project, as can be seen by the image belowEvery permit application on Cloudpermit will be part of a project, a new project or existing project. For example, if you wish to construct a new single family dwelling, you may be required to apply for several different types of permits, and therefore the project would be the construction of the single family dwelling, and any permit that project requires would be part of that project. Once you have either selected an existing project or created a new project please click the next button located near the bottom right of the window. 
  4. Locate The Subject Property
    1. You will now be redirected to the geographic locator component of the application, as can be seen by the image below. Here you will be required to identify the subject property on a map. To begin, please select the appropriate municipality from the drop-down list near the top right of the window. If you cannot locate the drop-down list, it is circled in red on the image below.
    2. Once you have selected the appropriate Municipality, it is time to locate the subject property. To do so, there are currently three available options:
      1. Using the municipal address of the subject property
      2. Using the Roll number of the subject property.
      3. Locating the property on the map manually and clicking on it
        1. To locate the subject property using its municipal address, please type the municipal address into the search bar located right above the map. Once you type the address into the search bar, Cloudpermit will provide you with a list of existing properties. Please select the subject property from the list under Addresses. 
        2. To locate the subject property using its roll number, please type the roll number into the search bar located right above the map. Once you type the roll number into the search bar, Cloudpermit will provide you with a list of existing properties. Please select the subject property from the list under Addresses.
        3. To manually locate the subject property using the map, you can click and drag on the map. To zoom in/out please use the blue and white + and – buttons located near the top left of the map. Once you have located the subject property, please click it once. Cloudpermit will now pull up relevant information regarding the property.
    3. Once you have selected the subject property, you will be able to proceed to the next step. To do so, please click the Next button located near the bottom right of the window.
  5. Select the Application Type and Category
    1. You now need to select the Application type and Category for your application as can be seen by the image below. Currently, Cloudpermit only supports building permit applications and therefore, the Application type is only limited to Building permit. Please pick the appropriate category for your permit.
    2. Once you have selected the category for your permit, please click the Next button located near the bottom right of the window.
  6. Review the Summary of your Application
    1. You have now been automatically redirected to the Summary page where you need to confirm the information you have inputted so far. If you want to confirm it, please click the Create application button located near the bottom of the right of the window. If you wish to revise any of the information you have entered so far, you can go back by clicking the Back button located near the bottom right of the window.
  7. Success! 
    1. You have now created the application on Cloudpermit! Please note, the application is not yet completed. At this stage, it is simply created and under DRAFT status, meaning it is not yet SUBMITTED. To learn how to complete your applications, please click here
